Episode 40: Baboy sa Checkpoint

Checkpoint? Or Something Else?

Last March 14, 2008, in an unsuspecting afternoon, Ma and I decided to go shopping for groceries at SM Molino - which is just 10 minutes away. But these minutes turned into hours, at least for most people along Molino road, as the PNP put up a “checkpoint” for vehicles on their way to Manila or Alabang. This was the same day as the Anti-Arroyo Youth Rally held by different universities at Liwasang Bonifacio at the height of the ZTE Deal Scandal.  What a (non)coincidence.

Watch as one supposed-to-be-usual checkpoint turn into something else.

Thanks Bikoy for the pics!

Panalo si Mama mo. You should experience the checkpoint going to Davao. All private vehicles are made to stop. And all the men are made to get off the bus or jeep. But it doesn’t cause traffic. :) It’s a daily routine already.

Going inside the airport, inside most malls, and most other points of entry via land. :D

I meant the checkpoints. But the men getting off the vehicle is only for buses/jeepneys from other towns/cities.

If you notice, the police was there before we went in the mall. Pag labas namin, wala na sila. Parang “JOB DONE. NOBODY’S GOING TO MANILA IN THIS TRAFFIC” ang nangyari. Iniwan na lang nila.

Tsk. Tsk.

My blood boiled with this one! Traffic is already an understatement in Bacoor, but this one was really bull—-! I read about these so-called checkpoints during the rallies in Manila.

It is absolutely disturbing to see how the public is subjected to this kind of pacification. It all reminds me of V for Vendetta.

On a lighter (defensive) note, that’s the uglier school bus from the alma mater. And, we really love your mom’s comments!

Coy this one was brilliant.
