I, Speaker? I Haz No Clue!

That’s what I immediately thought when the boss gave me the task of giving a talk on video blogging at the National Conference on Health Informatics this Friday. Yes, it would be a huge honor to be speaking in front of doctors and noble health workers but I haven’t really delved into the use of vlogging for health practices. I googled “health vlogs” and nothing really helpful came up. Simply put - I NEED HALPZ!

I’ve come up with a list of subtopics that I might use. Please feel free to add or suggest stuff. Benj, Tess, health bloggers, anyone? :D

  • What is Video Blogging?
  • Difference of Vlogs and Other Videos Online - Are all Youtube videos, vlogs?
  • Advantages and Disadvantages of Vlogging
  • Uses of Video Blogging in General
  • Difference of Vlogs to E-learning videos
  • Levels of Formalities
  • Steps in doing a Video Blog - iBlog4 Reloaded.
  • Vlogging for Health Education
  • Ethics and Limits in Video Blogging - With Examples - Cebu Canister Scandal na lang. Haha!
  • Telemedicine / Telehealth Using Video Blogs
  • Security, Access Authority, and Confidentiality Issues

Hi Coy. This is a great opportunity as reaching out to a different audience will allow you to broaden your audience too.

You might want to start it off by showing a “health-focused” video blogger as an example. Be ready to be asked on how does this boundary on ethics (assuming that they are aware or sensitive on videos posted online lately that involves those in the health profession).

I hope this helps.
