Last May 14, I got the honor of getting featured again on TV – this time, on one of my favorite shows – QTube! I would like to thank segment producers Japs and Lawrence for giving me this opportunity. I got quite more awesome feedback from visitors because of this feature (a lot better than what I got from “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho”) ; thanks to the more in-depth (lengthy 8-minute) interview and i-Share exclusive, show!

The Wildest UP Fair I’ve Seen in Years

The University of the Philippines Diliman Fair Week has always been a staple must-go event every second week of February. Each year, every day has a delectable menu of bands – old and new that doesn’t fail to satisfy the appetite of concert-goers. Present are also different booths, attractions and rides which make the whole UP Fair experience awesome. But behind the fun music and games, violence is also a mainstay in these events. People usually don’t mind. Until last night.

You guys have no idea how much back[v]logs I got in my laptop. My system cannot keep up! So expect an overflow of video updates in the coming weeks. Also, I really miss b/vlogging. Just needed to recharge after the new year and the Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho crew did boost me in the right direction. Fire hits UP Manila–report MANILA, Philippines – (UPDATE) A fire hit the University of the Philippines in Manila but has been declared under control, according to a radio report.In a live interview over Radio dzMM Friday, a fire official said the blaze started at the multipurpose hall of the College of Public Health building.The official said they were looking at faulty wiring at ceiling as the possible cause of the fire. The official said no one was injured because the blaze occurred at about lunch time when the students were out of the building.   

Good thing everything’s under control.

“UPCAT” Premiere Coverage and Screening Details!

UPCAT The Movie, one of the films under Cinema One Originals Film Festival premiered at the UP Film Center, Diliman Quezon City last November 20, 2008. The event, one of the first stops of Cinema One Originals 2008 Campus Tour, was attended by a great number of indie film fans and movie-goers. Reactions to the movie is kinda mixed but the comedy scenes were sure hits to the crowd composed mostly of UP students and alumni.

Here are screening details and the synopsis of the film:

Lucas and Joaquin are two teenage boys from the province who believe passing the UPCAT (University of the Philippines College Admissions Test) is the passport to their dreams. While Joaquin’s goal is to get a well-paying job and bring his OFW parents back home, Lucas wants nothing more than to win the heart of his schoolmate Jane – and perhaps her family, all of whom are UP-educated. The two seek help in reviewing from Michael, a UP Fine Arts graduate with a secret. In this light coming-of-age story, Lucas and Joaquin discover some truths about life, love, dreams and shaded circles and a little more about themselves along the way.

I got UPCAT The Movie update gaiz! Director Roman Carlo Olivarez dropped by on my first post and left these details about the movie:

the film is one of the seven grantees of the 2008 cinema one originals.

we’ll be having a school tour last two weeks of november and a run at robinson’s galeria indiesine on dec 3 to 16.

Salamat Direk! It turns out that Kringy and Direk Roman are pretty good friends. Small, small world. Now, I’m definitely looking forward to the premiere night. Hope I get to meet the cast and crew.

Before I show you two OFFICIAL POSTER LAYOUTS of UPCAT The Movie, lemme share this rant about UP which I’ve picked up from my old site (Masci 2003) written by RJBLirazan. Though I don’t agree with some of his points, I still think it’s worth the read (and it’s quite funneh too!) :

Don’t EVER EVER EVER FALL IN LOVE WITH A BLOCKMATE. focus on other things – like your GWA. Yang syoting mo, iiwanan ka niyan. Ang grades mo, nakatatak na yan sa nuo mo FOREVER. This is not your idea of a playground. This is school. Mag-aaral ka lang dito. Wala ka dito para lumande at magpakikay. Tapos na yan nung highschool ka. Longtime-partner ba kamo ang gusto mo? Mag-ampon ka ng aso. Wag na tao – dadami lang ang pimples mo. Para sa mga babae – isipin mo na lang na walang matinong lalaki dito (don’t worry hindi masyado mahirap to gawin). Kung lalaki ka – walang magandang babae dito (eto talagang mapapansin mo na). Kung bakla o lesbiana ka – SA LABAS KA MAGHANAP. BASTA WAG SA UP. WAG NA WAG SA BLOCKMATE. Iiyak ka lang. Promise.

Basta sakin yon lang. Walang plastikan. Ayoko kasi sa lahat yung nagsisi.
